Job summary

University Bursar in Gainesville, FL seeks a Student Account Specialist I to support loan collections and student accounts within the CFO Division. The role focuses on counseling borrowers on deferment options, processing requests for deferment or forbearance, and coordinating with collection agencies to recover past due balances.

Responsibilities include communicating with currently enrolled students, arranging payment plans, and ensuring holds do not block education progress while balances

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Counsel borrowers about deferment, cancellation, and forbearance options.
• Submit economic hardship, deferment, or forbearance requests for approval.
• Coordinate submission of student loan accounts to collection agencies.
• Assist with collection efforts before sending to collection agencies.
• Monitor holds to prevent education progression until balances are settled.
• Respond to student inquiries regarding credit status, transcripts, or disputes.
• Provide documentation to outside agencies as needed.
