Job summary

RTX is offering a full-time internship/co-op in Jan–July/August, located onsite in Jamestown, ND. You will work with a team of stress engineers on new product development and certification, performing basic structural analyses and supporting load calculations to ensure cargo-handling system integrity.

The program requires ongoing enrollment in ME/CE/AE, CAD experience, and at least 60 transfer credits by start date, with opportunities to advance into certification documentation and testing

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and enrolled through internship/co-op.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Catia or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co-op.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic structural analysis with guidance from stress engineers using classical and finite element methods.
• Support generation of component applied loads and aircraft interface loads.
• Develop structural analysis documentation for product certification.
• Support structural testing for product certification.

What You Will Do

• Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January- July/August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
• Work within a team of stress engineers in support of new product development and certification.
• Perform basic structural analysis, with guidance from stress engineers, utilizing classical analysis and finite element analysis methods to demonstrate structural integrity of cargo handling system products.
• Support the generation of component applied loads and aircraft interface loads.
• Develop structural analysis documentation in support of product certification.
• Support structural testing for product certification.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Catia or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred).
• Coursework in Statics and Mechanics of Materials.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook).
