Job summary

RTX is seeking candidates for internships, co-ops, and full-time roles in aerospace and defense. You will learn to determine avionics system requirements, create interface control definitions, and develop verification plans. Ideal candidates are pursuing an engineering degree with a strong interest in avionics, technical writing, and system-level design. This role is onsite in the U.S.

What You Will Do
  • Determines full avionics system requirements for avionics systems
  • Develops system design documentation such as interface control definitions, hardware interconnect definitions, and human machine interface documentation
  • Develops and executes verification procedures for laboratory testing of avionics
  • Ensures compliance to applicable certification regulations
What You Will Learn
  • Planning and tracking work in engineering tools (Jira, Confluence, JAMA, etc.)
  • Ability to write requirements, develop design documentation, and verify requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with large multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in an Engineering discipline and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Past aviation experience (such as being a pilot or aircraft maintainer)
  • Personal project experience related to building or working with complex systems
  • Experience with technical writing such as undergraduate research papers.
  • Previous project leadership and communication/coordination roles.

Relocation Eligibility

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
