Job summary

RTX invites driven students to join our Windsor Locks, CT team for an engineering internship focused on aerospace product development. You will assess engineering inputs, ensure compliance with standards, and guide changes through production feasibility and contract alignment.

The role emphasizes collaboration across engineering disciplines, documentation of standard work, and continuous improvement, with onsite work and access to our global aerospace programs.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering and enrolled through the internship/co-op session.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate/interpret engineering inputs for proper classification, adherence to drafting and engineering standards, product structure impact and interrelation of changes.
  • Evaluate daily inputs to ensure compliance to procedures, regulatory & customer requirements, and interrelation of change impact with other product lines.
  • Provide direction to originators and management to resolve issues and ensure proper engineering intent is realized without jeopardizing contract compliance.
  • Sequence multiple engineering changes into product structures to ensure proper production incorporation without delays or shipping stoppages.
  • Support meetings to share status, metrics, technical information, and gather concurrence on changes.

What You Will Do
  • Evaluate/interpret engineering inputs for proper classification, adherence to drafting and engineering standards, product structure impact and interrelationship of changes to other Collins products.
  • Evaluate daily inputs to ensure compliance to applicable procedures, regulatory & customer requirements, and interrelationship of change impact with other product lines and business units.
  • Provide direction for originators, affected departments and management to resolve issues in a timely manner and ensure proper engineering intent is realized without jeopardizing contract compliance.
  • Sequence multiple engineering changes into iterative product structures to ensure proper production incorporation without hardware delays or causing shipping stoppages.
  • Support internal/ external meetings to share status, metrics, technical information, gather concurrence on changes, etc.
  • Oversight and Administration of ECS Shared Services Process Analysis metrics and turn backs.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and connect all employees with experiences to make our business better.
  • Write and update standard work documents.
  • Work closely with individuals and teams within the business unit(s) to manage critical action lists and their execution.
  • Ensure work is performed in a timely manner and by priority.
  • Support audits and resulting corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software such as NX or equivalent (SolidWorks, Creo, and/or Catia) Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)
  • Experience with Engineering Change Process
  • Experience with Engineering and Manufacturing process
  • Experience working with the shared support of engineering, operations, records, and drafting
  • Experience with engineering drawings, specifications, and technical processes

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
