Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a 2027 Spring Co-op in our Oakland office. You will work alongside industry-leading experts to gain hands-on experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

The role involves construction monitoring, field investigations, material analysis, and collaboration on project drafting and design. Travel and working from heights may be required, with compensation based on degree program level.

Qualifications

• Interest in civil/structural engineering and materials science.
• Strong GPA and desire for hands-on consulting engineering experience.
• Professionalism and high-quality work ethic.
• Effective communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, and site inspections.
• Analyze materials, design testing protocols, and run tests.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance of structures.
• Organize field data and support repair design research.
• Perform analysis under licensed professionals using hand calcs and software.
• Assist with client deliverables including drawings, specs, and reports.
• Travel and work from heights may be required.
