Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) invites Fall 2026 interns and co-ops to join our Orange County or San Diego, CA offices for hands-on experience alongside industry-leading engineers. You will work side-by-side with experts both in the office and in the field to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

You will analyze materials, support petrography staff, and participate in construction monitoring, site inspections, and drafting.

Qualifications

• Students should be interested in civil/structural engineering, materials science, architecture, or architectural engineering.
• Maintain high grades and eagerness to learn through hands-on work in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication abilities and professional demeanor are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, condition assessments, and project drafting.
• Analyze materials, support petrography staff, develop test protocols, and analyze test data.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on field tests and site inspections.
• Organize field data and assist with research to aid analysis and repair design.
• Assist with client deliverables including construction documents and reports.
