Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a Fall 2026 Internship in our Oakland, CA office. You will work alongside industry experts in the office and in the field to gain hands-on experience while applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

As an Intern, you will engage in construction monitoring, field investigations, design and analysis tasks, and client deliverables. Travel and working from heights may be involved, with a compensation structure based on degree

Qualifications

• Civil/structural engineering interest and coursework.
• Strong academic performance in relevant programs.
• Willingness to learn through hands-on fieldwork and office tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, condition assessments, and site inspections.
• Analyze materials, develop test protocols, and assist with test data analysis.
• Collaborate with engineers on reconnaissance and field testing of structures.
• Organize field data and support research for problem solving and repair design.
• Perform analyses under licensed engineers' guidance using calculations and software.
• Contribute to client deliverables, including documents and written reports.
• Travel may be required and work at heights may be needed.
