Job summary

Passero Associates is seeking a Civil Engineer with a structural emphasis to contribute to diverse projects across the United States. You will assist in design, documentation, and field activities, collaborating with architects and contractors to ensure robust, code-compliant solutions.

The role requires 2–5+ years’ experience, an EIT, and proficiency with REVIT and major structural software. Opportunities for mentorship and career growth are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) from ABET-accredited program.
  • 2-5+ years of structural engineering experience in building design and analysis.
  • EIT required; PE license preferred or within 12–24 months.
  • Experience independently managing structural tasks and assignments.
  • Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, NDS, and related specs.
  • Experience with steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and foundations.
  • Proficiency with REVIT and BIM-based project delivery.
  • RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, ENERCALC or similar software experience.
  • Seismic, wind, and lateral force design familiarity; construction administration preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and budgets; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural design and delivery of complex engineering projects from conception through construction.
  • Develop structural solutions for new construction, renovation, expansion, retrofit, and adaptive reuse.
  • Perform structural analysis and design using advanced software and calculations.
  • Coordinate efforts with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, calculation packages, and reports.
  • Provide mentoring and professional development to junior staff.
  • Conduct field investigations and existing structure evaluations.
  • Perform construction administration including submittals, RFIs, site observations, and issue resolution.
  • Contribute on projects across K-12, commercial, municipal, institutional, industrial, aviation, and multi-family facilities.
  • Work on projects nationwide using steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and specialty systems.

Job description


  • Assist with structural design and delivery of complex engineering projects from conception through construction

  • Develop structural solutions for new construction, renovation, expansion, retrofit, and adaptive reuse projects

  • Perform structural analysis and design using advanced engineering software, design calculations, and engineering judgment

  • Coordinate structural engineering efforts with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Prepare structural construction documents, specifications, calculation packages, and technical reports

  • Provide technical mentoring, training, and professional development guidance to junior staff

  • Conduct field investigations and existing structure evaluations

  • Perform construction administration services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, and resolution of construction issues

  • Serve as a key contributor on structural engineering projects across K-12, commercial, municipal, institutional, industrial, aviation, and multi-family residential facilities

  • Work on projects throughout the United States using steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and specialty structural systems


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) or related field from an ABET-accredited program

  • 2-5+ years of structural engineering experience in building design and analysis

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or intent to obtain within 12-24 months

  • Experience independently managing structural engineering tasks and assignments

  • Knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, AISC Steel Manual, ACI 318, TMS Masonry Code, NDS Wood Design Standards, and related design specifications

  • Experience designing and detailing structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems

  • Proficiency with REVIT and BIM-based project delivery

  • Advanced experience with structural analysis and design software including RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, ENERCALC, or similar platforms

  • Familiarity with seismic, wind, and lateral force-resisting system design

  • Experience with construction administration, forensic investigations, condition assessments, and rehabilitation projects preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting schedules and budgets
