Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead complex design deliverables, serve as Engineer of Record as required, and guide a team of EITs and BIM designers. You will manage multiple projects, review submittals, engage with clients, travel periodically, and mentor staff while ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc, and Excel is required; PA PE licensure is expected, SE licensure preferred.

Job description

• Lead the preparation and review of complex structural design deliverables, including studies, calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) as required; perform design checks, internal technical reviews (ITRs), and quality control of team deliverables.
• Provide clear direction, redlines, and technical guidance to EITs and BIM designers.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including defining scope, developing man‑hour estimates, and ensuring adherence to MBI standards and protocols.
• Support construction activities by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and addressing field issues and corrective actions.
• Collaborate across disciplines and project teams, participating in meetings, tracking action items, and ensuring effective communication.
• Engage with clients to support project delivery and contribute to business development efforts; build strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
• Conduct periodic site visits to document findings and support project oversight.
• Provide mentorship, technical oversight, and performance feedback to less experienced staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural, or Civil Engineering.
• 12+ years of relevant experience (a master’s degree may substitute for 1–2 years of experience).
• Minimum of 5 years licensure as Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Ability to gain licensure as a Structural Engineer (SE) in states that recognize such is preferred.
• Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of structural design codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI.
• Experience with the Whole Building Design Guide and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for Department of Defense projects is preferred.
• Experience with seismic design for new construction and seismic evaluation of existing buildings.
• Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
• Available for periodic travel.
