Job summary

CannonDesign in Buffalo, NY is seeking a capable structural engineer to analyze and design structural systems in steel, concrete, and masonry under the supervision of licensed engineers. You will contribute to design teams, develop BIM models in Revit, and perform calculations and documentation for contract documents.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the design team, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting in budget/scope definition. Some travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of related experience.
• Current PE and/or SE license in the United States required.
• LEED AP is preferred.
• Experience with concrete and steel required.
• Knowledge of IBC and other national standard codes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
• Experience in engineering design software (Revit, RAM, RISA) required.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform structural engineering tasks on multiple projects.
• Interface with the design team to coordinate structural systems with overall building design.
• Perform design calculations and use engineering software to design and document structural systems.
• Apply structural code knowledge to design within established parameters.
• Use Revit to develop BIM models for contract documents.
• Check shop drawings and calculations.
• Review and edit design specifications.
• Interface with clients and attend construction meetings as needed.
• Perform field observations during construction and guide technicians when needed.
• Assist in defining project budget and scope.
