Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a structural engineering professional to join our multi-disciplinary team in San Diego. You will work under a licensed engineer to develop and analyze structural systems for educational, healthcare, sports, corporate and science/tech facilities.

You will perform design calculations, use Revit for BIM, and help produce Contract Documents, coordinating with the broader design team. A Bachelor in Civil Engineering (Structural focus) is required, with Masters preferred, plus

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor in Civil Engineering with Structural focus; Master preferred
• Related student internship work experience preferred
• EIT, LEED accreditation preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects
• Experience in engineering design software (Revit, RAM, RISA) required

Responsibilities

• Work closely with a structural engineer to develop new or analyze existing systems for institutional, sports, and corporate/commercial buildings
• Perform design calculations under supervision of an experienced engineer
• Use engineering software to design and document structural systems
• Develop BIM models in Revit to produce Contract Documents
• Assist in producing Contract Documents including foundations, framing, roof plans, sections and details
• Coordinate structural systems with overall building design with the design team
• Review shop drawings during construction and may perform field observations on site
• Willing to perform overtime as needed
• May perform other duties as required
