Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Structural Engineer to lead the structural design on projects, ensuring delivery by the structural team and adherence to codes and client requirements.

The role involves performing structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, aluminum, and masonry, preparing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with other disciplines. Hybrid work is offered with offices nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Experience in structural design and understanding construction processes in detail.
• Has passed or is working towards passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Typically will become certified in BC's SMS Framework and progress through SMS competencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, aluminum, and masonry structures.
• Prepare structural drawings and structural specifications in compliance with building codes.
• Engage in cross-discipline coordination meetings to resolve design conflicts and ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Provide construction phase support including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, change orders, and substitutions.
• Mentorship may be provided to help less experienced team members develop skills.
