Job summary

LJB Inc. in Kernersville, NC, is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice.

You will lead bridge design projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with teams across offices to deliver safe, durable infrastructure. This role requires a Civil Engineering degree, 5–10 years of bridge design experience, and knowledge of DOT guidelines. A PE license is a plus and not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
• 5-10 years of bridge/culvert design experience with full lifecycle exposure.
• Direct experience with DOT bridge design and DOT guidelines.
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and Bridge Evaluation manuals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on structural analysis and design of various bridge types (steel, prestressed concrete, etc.).
• Lead Bridge Task Coordinator for projects, managing schedules and deliverables.
• Provide design and plan production support across offices.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee quality control for bridge plans.
• Develop technical memos, specifications, feasibility studies, reports, and proposals.
