Job summary

LJB Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina seeks an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation Practice. You will collaborate on design and analysis of multiple bridge types, lead project tasks, and support teams across offices.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, 5–10 years of bridge design experience, DOT exposure, and a PE or eligibility within a year. We offer an opportunity to contribute to safe, durable infrastructure with a national engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis preferred.
• PE license is a plus; candidates must have or be able to obtain a PE within 1 year of hire.
• 5-10 years of hands-on bridge/culvert design experience, full lifecycle of bridge projects.
• Direct experience with DOT bridge design and understanding of DOT design guidelines, procedures, and plan preparation.
• In-depth knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and Bridge Evaluation Manual.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on structural analysis and design of various bridge types (steel, prestressed concrete, etc.).
• Lead projects as Bridge Task Coordinator, managing schedules, tasks, and deliverables.
• Provide design and plan production support to teams across offices.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality control for bridge plans.
• Develop technical memorandums, specifications, evaluations, reports, and assist with proposals.
