LJB Inc. in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice. The role focuses on design, analysis, and project leadership for diverse bridge types, with collaboration across multiple offices.

Qualified candidates bring a Civil Engineering degree, 5–10 years of bridge experience, and familiarity with DOT standards; a PE is preferred and can be pursued within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
• 5–10 years’ hands-on bridge/culvert design experience.
• Direct experience with DOT bridge design and relevant guidelines.
• In-depth knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and Bridge Evaluation Manual.
• PE license is a plus; ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on structural analysis and design of various bridge types.
• Lead bridge projects as coordinator, managing schedules and deliverables.
• Provide design and plan-production support across offices.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QC of bridge plans.
• Develop memos, specifications, studies, evaluations, and reports.
• Support proposals and other duties as assigned.
