Job summary

Blue Origin Engines is seeking a dedicated Structural Analyst with expertise in injector and turbomachinery hardware and ANSYS Workbench experience. This role focuses on ensuring the structural integrity of BE-4 turbomachinery components, including rotating and static hardware, through strength, fatigue, fracture, modal, and random vibration analyses.

Free body diagrams and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing for stakeholder reports.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings and providing structural input for design modifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of ANSYS Workbench and strength, fatigue, fracture, modal, and random vibration analysis.
  • Ability to construct free body diagrams for structural evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Use ANSYS Workbench to perform FEM analyses on turbomachinery hardware (strength, fatigue, fracture, modal, random vibration).
  • Construct and interpret free body diagrams for structural evaluation.
  • Assess non-conformances using structural command media for BE-4 Main Tur turbopump components.
  • Review spin-start component drawings and provide design feedback for safety and performance compliance.
  • Recommend and implement design changes based on analysis results to improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with design, project management, and system teams to incorporate structural considerations into hardware definitions and flight responses.
  • Provide technical leadership and help develop best-practice guidelines for the team.
