Job summary

City of Valdosta seeks a Municipal Street Maintenance Worker to operate backhoe, excavator, front-end loader, bulldozer and other equipment for street and stormwater maintenance.

You will trim and prune city trees, remove debris, maintain vehicles, assist with traffic control at work sites, and install holiday decorations.

A high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to read, write, perform basic math, and 1–2 years of related experience, plus a valid driver’s license, are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of techniques, equipment and supplies used in street, tree, and stormwater maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of city geography and street names.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoe, excavator, front-end loader, bulldozer and other equipment for street/stormwater maintenance.
• Operate vehicles and equipment to transport equipment, tools and supplies.
• Trim and prune city trees; remove debris and install landscaping.
• Maintain assigned vehicles; perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Assist in traffic control at work sites.
• Install and remove holiday decorations.
• Perform related duties.
