Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of techniques, equipment, and supplies used in street, tree, and stormwater maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of city geography, including street names and locations.
• Skill in operating assigned vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
• Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience or an apprenticeship/internship in a similar role.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operates backhoe, excavator, front-end loader, bulldozer and other equipment used in street and stormwater maintenance.
• Operates vehicles to transport equipment, tools and supplies to sites.
• Trims and prunes city trees; removes debris and installs landscaping.
• Inspects vehicles and equipment; performs pre- and post-trip checks.
• Assists in traffic control at work sites.
• Installs and removes holiday decorations.
• Performs related duties.
