Job summary

City of Allentown seeks a Streets Superintendent to plan, direct, and oversee the day-to-day and emergency operations of the Bureau of Streets. You will ensure the safe, efficient maintenance of City streets, alleys, and related infrastructure, including pothole repair, street cleaning, leaf collection, snow and ice control, and storm response.

You will lead supervisory and field staff, manage budgets, contracts, equipment and materials, coordinate with other City departments and outside

Qualifications

• Experience directing street maintenance operations including pothole repair, street cleaning, leaf collection, and snow/ice control.
• Ability to develop annual and seasonal work plans and budgets.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to coordinate with multiple departments and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and oversees day-to-day and emergency operations of the Streets Bureau.
• Manages budgets, contracts, equipment, materials, and work programs; coordinates with City departments and outside agencies.
• Ensures work is completed safely and in accordance with policies, labor agreements, laws, regulations, and public works practices.
• Directs supervisors and crews; plans, assigns, and monitors work and resources.
