Job summary

The City of Grand Forks is seeking a Public Works Operations Supervisor in the Streets department to lead daily street maintenance, snow and ice control, and right-of-way maintenance, coordinating crews, equipment, and safety.

The role focuses on planning, organizing, directing operations, budgeting input, staff development, and delivering exceptional public service, with opportunities to improve service delivery and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Six years of public works experience with two years in a supervisory role.
• Equivalent to an associate’s degree with related fields.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate staff work in the Streets Division.
• Improve service delivery methods and implement approved efficiency improvements.
• Analyze resource allocations of equipment and personnel for sustainability.
• Address customer concerns and provide effective solutions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and efficient use of hours, facilities, and vehicles.
• Support staff training, performance evaluation, and corrective actions as needed.
• Train staff to represent the City in service delivery and safety reporting.
• Contribute to budget planning and provide operational budget recommendations.
• Co-lead procurement to maximize utility and value.
• Coordinate warranty work and equipment availability.
• Oversee procurement and disposal of City-owned equipment within budget.
• Participate in meetings on compliance, capital projects, and customer relations.
• Perform related duties as required.
