Job summary

City of Allentown is seeking a Maintenance Worker II in the Public Works Streets division to perform street resurfacing, storm sewer maintenance, and related construction tasks. The role involves leading crews, operating paving and crack-sealing equipment, and ensuring quality workmanship.

Requires a high school diploma or technical training, at least one year of related experience, and a valid CDL Class B license with endorsements. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: high school or technical training, or equivalent.
• Experience: minimum one year in related work or equivalent education/experience.
• Must be able to read instructions and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform street repairs using small paver, crackseal, tacking kettle and related equipment.
• Lead repair crew and supervise others as assigned.
• Operate back-end paving equipment and monitor material distribution.
• Lift up to 50–75 lbs for manhole covers or castings as needed.
• Maintain safety, tools, and records; perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Work overtime in emergencies, including nights and weekends.
