Job summary

Western Colorado University is seeking a Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist to bridge external talent sourcing with employee engagement on the Gunnison campus. The role reports to the Director of Human Resources and collaborates with the HR team to drive compliant, strategic hiring and onboarding processes.

The position emphasizes detailed administrative work, onboarding coordination, and orientation programming aligned with the university’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years HR experience.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant HR or administrative experience.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage highly detailed work accurately.
• Proficiency with databases, Microsoft Office, and HRIS platforms; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle recruitment and hiring for non-student positions; develop candidate pipelines through outreach and stakeholder partnership.
• Coordinate job postings, ads, and search processes with hiring managers and search committees; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Administer onboarding, track completion of required training, system access, and respond to inquiries.
• Develop orientation programs to convey university mission, policies, and values and support inclusive campus culture.
