Job summary

Busey Bank is seeking a Special Assets Commercial Underwriter II to provide precise credit underwriting to support the Special Assets portfolio management. The role involves analyzing financial statements, calculating coverage ratios, and preparing CCAR memos with critical risk insights.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance, 5+ years in Commercial Credit, and 2+ years in a Commercial Underwriter role.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of financial accounting.

Responsibilities

• Spread and analyze financial statements and compute Debt Service Coverage or Fixed Charge Coverage ratios per guidelines.
• Assess cash flow, liquidity, profitability and leverage to evaluate risk of existing obligations.
• Prepare CCAR memos with key borrower risk details and supporting data.
• Evaluate collateral, industry data and other credit information.
• Support portfolio management tasks including covenant testing and monthly reporting.
• Maintain knowledge of Commercial Banking policies and systems, including nCino.
• Assist in workout processes and accompany Relationship Managers on calls/meetings.
• Participate in meetings to learn about potential credits transitioning to Special Assets.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
• Work with minimal supervision and apply independent thinking to complex issues.
