Job summary

Busey Bank seeks a Commercial Underwriter to deliver precise underwriting for the bank’s lending portfolio and new business development. You will support Relationship Managers with comprehensive credit analysis, collateral evaluation, and portfolio monitoring to ensure sound risk management.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Business or Finance.
• Requires 5 or more years of Commercial Credit experience.
• Requires 2 or more years of experience in the Commercial Underwriter role.

Responsibilities

• Financial statement spreading and analysis, including calculation of Debt Service Coverage or Fixed Charge Coverage Ratios per Busey guidelines.
• Use financial data such as cash flow, liquidity, profitability, and leverage to determine and minimize risk of extending credit.
• Prepare clear and concise CCAR memos with relevant risk information for loans.
• Evaluate collateral, industry data and other credit information.
• Assist with Portfolio Management duties including testing covenants and portfolio reviews.
• Assist Relationship Managers with preparation of opportunity memos.
• Maintain knowledge of Commercial Banking Loan Policy and systems (nCino).
• Assist in the sales process with customer/prospect calls.
• Approve loans within defined authority levels; recommend outside authority.
• Participate in pipeline meetings for opportunities and renewals.
• Assist with other duties or special projects.
