Job summary

CVS Health Digital is seeking a Senior Manager - Software Development Engineering to lead a team of software engineers, provide hands-on technical direction, architecture guidance, and mentorship. The role drives technical strategy and delivery for software initiatives, aligning with business outcomes.

The ideal candidate will own risk mitigation, oversee SDLC, collaborate across functions, promote innovative tech adoption including AI/ML, and build high-performing teams to sustain production

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5+ years leading projects or managing directs.
• 7+ years of experience using and/or managing projects using Java, Spring boot, Kafka to build/deploy, and maintain software applications using cloud platforms.
• 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams without direct authority, including collaboration with engineering, architecture, security, and business stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
• 3+ years of experience defining technology strategy and leading adoption of AI/ML, cloud services, automation, and productivity tools in a large-scale enterprise environment with measurable impact.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and modern software development practices.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)

Responsibilities

• Own risk mitigation and production stability by identifying system vulnerabilities, leading root cause analysis, and driving timely resolution of complex production issues.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements engineering, system design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring secure coding and scalable architecture.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and align priorities.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and practices, driving innovation through proofs of concept and informed technology choices.
• Build and develop high-performing engineering teams by hiring top talent, conducting evaluations, and fostering a culture of excellence and knowledge sharing.
