Job summary

Peter Pan Bus Lines is seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to support company-wide safety, regulatory compliance, and driver training programs.

The role focuses on day-to-day regulatory compliance, driver qualification, safety audits, incident management, and recordkeeping, reporting to the Senior Director, Safety & Security. Collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, HR, drivers, trainers, dispatchers, and management is essential to promote a robust safety culture.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, ADA, OSHA, and TSA regulations.
• Experience in motorcoach or commercial passenger transportation operations.
• Understanding of dispatch operations, driver schedules, Hours of Service, and fleet maintenance.
• Ability to collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, HR, drivers, and management to resolve safety concerns.
• Strong communication, training, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate when needed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to regulatory documentation and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, ADA, OSHA, TSA, and applicable state regulations.
• Administer DOT drug and alcohol testing programs, including documentation and recordkeeping.
• Oversee Driver Qualification Files (DQFs), MVR monitoring, and licensing requirements.
• Monitor Hours of Service and idling compliance and oversee ELD auditing.
• Conduct regular safety audits and facility inspections.
• Review safety technology like onboard cameras, telematics, and driver monitoring systems.
• Oversee new-hire driver safety orientation and training programs.
• Coordinate recurring and remedial driver training and defensive driving topics.
• Develop and deliver safety training for managers, supervisors, dispatchers and drivers.
• Serve as Safety Department contact for incidents and liaise with insurance carriers.
