Job summary

The Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB), a Munich Re subsidiary, seeks a Portfolio Underwriter to drive profitable growth through design, negotiation, and stewardship of embedded programs. You will own client portfolios, monitor performance, and lead reviews with clients and internal teams to optimize risk and retention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 5+ years P&C insurance/reinsurance experience required; 3+ years underwriting preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial/personal lines, and solid data-driven decision abilities.
• Ability to translate large data analyses into actionable decisions.
• Proven track record negotiating and resolving conflicts to achieve profit targets.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned client portfolios, monitor underwriting performance and pricing adequacy.
• Lead portfolio reviews, program evolution, and risk management across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to align solutions with risk appetite and strategy.
