Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers seeks a Payroll Coordinator to support biweekly payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate timekeeping and compliant tax handling. You will maintain payroll records, assist with benefits administration, and help with 401(k) contributions and reconciliations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in payroll, experience with major payroll platforms, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5 years of payroll administration, payroll coordinator, or related payroll experience.
• Experience with ADP, Workday, Paylocity, or a similar payroll platform; Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of payroll processing, payroll taxes, wage and hour requirements, payroll deductions, benefits administration, and 401(k) contribution processing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions.

Responsibilities

• Support biweekly payroll processing for employees across multiple states.
• Review timesheets for completeness, accuracy, policy compliance, and required approvals.
• Maintain payroll records for new hires, terminations, compensation changes, direct deposit updates, and tax withholding changes.
• Assist with payroll tax filings, reporting, and related compliance activities.
• Support benefits administration, payroll deductions, and reconciliations.
• Process and reconcile 401(k) contributions, employer matches, and loans.
• Research payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries, escalating for review.
• Prepare payroll reports and analyze payroll data using Excel.
• Coordinate with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance as needed.
