Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital in Ronkonkoma, NY is seeking a Procedure Scheduler for the Peri-operative Service Area to coordinate daily operating room and ambulatory surgery scheduling using our scheduling system.

The role requires an Associate’s degree and 2+ years in hospital scheduling with a computerized system, or 5 years without a degree. Strong organization and communication skills are essential, with preferences for Cerner Surginet, PowerChart, and MS Office experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 2+ years of hospital scheduling with a computerized system, or 5 years without a degree.
• Detail oriented, well organized, and able to work effectively within a team.
• Preferred: Admitting/registration; familiarity with Cerner Surginet, PowerChart, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Create a daily schedule from cases booked in the Surgical Queue based on room availability and ensuring the appropriate equipment is available.
• Add the final anesthesia providers in the system and ensure they appear on the final schedule for the following day.
• Monitor physician privileges for community doctors and coordinate multiple surgeon cases and proctoring scheduling when applicable.
• Utilize block booking schedules to coordinate operating room time.
• Schedule pre-operative testing appointments directly with patients and provide testing information.
• Provide training as necessary to new staff.
• Schedule for the Main Operating Room and the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
