Job summary

Rancho Los Cerritos is seeking an Operations Director to lead day-to-day operations, HR functions, budgeting, and long-term site goals at our Long Beach, CA campus. The role supervises four direct reports and partners with the Executive Director to support fourteen staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Business, History, Museum Studies, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
• Five or more years in operations with three or more years in supervision.
• Familiarity with Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Structures.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and engage with the team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of employment trends, processes, and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Leads day-to-day operations of the historic site with cross‑functional teams.
• Manages major operations projects and reports to the Executive Director.
• Develops and implements policies in line with regulations and best practices.
• Oversees maintenance, facilities, grounds, and IT staff and consultants.
• Implements emergency plans and safety programs; maintains safety documentation.
• Supports annual reporting and budget planning with the Executive Director.
