People Freight in New York, NY seeks an experienced Ocean Export/Import Manager to lead the ocean operations team and ensure efficient movement of shipments from booking to final delivery. You will manage day-to-day operations, mentor staff, and drive service quality and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a strong background in U.S. ocean freight forwarding (import/export) and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in U.S. ocean freight forwarding (import/export) required.
• Proven management or supervisory experience in international freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight documentation and U.S. regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ocean import and export operations from booking to delivery.
• Lead, mentor and develop the ocean operations team.
• Monitor shipments and ensure accurate documentation and cargo handling.
• Manage carrier bookings, B/Ls, arrival notices, and delivery orders.
• Coordinate with carriers, terminals, truckers, customs brokers and overseas offices.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company procedures.
• Resolve operational issues and customer escalations efficiently.
• Maintain relationships with customers, carriers, vendors and partners.
• Provide regular updates to senior management.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and profitability.
• Support sales and management to drive growth.
• Ensure accurate invoicing and documentation.
