• Monitor shipment status and resolve operational issues and delays.
• Train, mentor and support team members; improve processes.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. import/export regulations.

Ocean Export/Import Supervisor | New York, NY | Salary up to $80,000

The role is to oversee day-to-day ocean operations while providing leadership and support to the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on freight forwarding professional with strong ocean experience and a solid understanding of both import and export processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the day-to-day Ocean Export & Import operations team.
• Oversee shipments from booking through final delivery, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
• Manage ocean import/export documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists and arrival notices.
• Coordinate with steamship lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, customs brokers, trucking companies and customers.
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve operational issues, delays and exceptions.
• Ensure accurate data entry, documentation and system updates throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Assist with rate requests, quotations and customer inquiries when required.
• Monitor team performance, workflow and service levels.
• Train, mentor and support team members while helping to improve operational processes.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and U.S. import/export regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers and overseas offices/agents.

Requirements

• 3+ years of U.S. freight forwarding experience, with strong Ocean Import and Export knowledge.
• Previous supervisory or team lead experience within a freight forwarding environment.
• Strong understanding of ocean freight documentation and operational procedures.
• Experience working with steamship lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents and trucking providers.
• Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience with CargoWise or similar freight forwarding software is preferred.
