Job summary

Google, within its Data Center Investments and Development (DCID) group, seeks a Strategic Negotiator on the Economic Development team to lead high-complexity incentive workstreams for global data centers. You will structure durable incentives, perform due diligence, and negotiate multi-party agreements with public stakeholders.

You will collaborate across Legal, Tax, Public Policy, and Operations to optimize total cost of ownership and maximize value for host communities while supporting Google

Qualifications

• Experience managing site selection for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience negotiating with state/local economic development agencies and authorities.
• Strong background in indirect taxes, tax incentives, and PILOT structures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-functional influence.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for on-site negotiations and stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities

• Participate in end-to-end negotiation of complex, multi-party economic development incentive agreements and statutory programs with state and local government entities.
• Conduct comprehensive tax due diligence, financial modeling, and statutory analysis to quantify incentive value and optimize site-level TCO.
• Partner with DCID, Energy, Legal, Tax, Public Policy, Government Affairs, and Data Center Operations to evaluate project requirements and manage risks.
• Monitor macroeconomic policy shifts, indirect tax developments, and regulatory trends to improve negotiation playbooks.
• Track and report portfolio metrics, milestones, and OKRs/KPIs.
