Job summary

Crowell & Moring LLP is seeking a Manager of Business Development to lead BD initiatives for the assigned practice groups and collaborate across the Marketing Department. You will drive strategy, create pitches, and coordinate research to support client opportunities while shaping marketing collateral and events.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least five years of related experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services, with a strong emphasis on relationship-building

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; JD/MBA or related advanced degree may substitute.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible, directly related experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic plans with department and practice leaders; coordinate BD initiatives.
• Engage practice groups to understand client needs and tailor BD guidance.
• Drive BD goals: identify opportunities, expand matters, pursue cross-sell.
• Develop pitches, proposals, and responses to formal RFPs.
• Digest research with Research Services on clients, competitors, and market trends.
• Create marketing collateral and client-facing materials; keep content updated.
• Support events, media opportunities, alerts, and articles to raise profiles.
• Monitor and report on BD progress; manage budget and expenses.
• Advise lawyers on BD best practices; support client alerts and newsletters.
