The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC seeks an HRBP – HR Specialist to support a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and employment transactions. You will coordinate hiring, lifecycle changes, and annual HR activities while ensuring policy compliance and delivering responsive customer service.

The role emphasizes partnership with departments, process optimization, and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 1+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of USC HR policies and applicable state/federal HR regulations is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with attention to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Partner with employees to resolve payroll, time and labor, and benefits issues (25% of time).
• Lead hiring proposals, drafting offers, onboarding, I-9, E-Verify, and related processes (25%).
• Process transactions in HCM systems for reappointments, promotions, and staff changes (20%).
• Provide benefits support and time-off management (10%).
• Oversee recruitment for temporary/adjunct positions and coordinate interviews (15%).
• Provide backup support to HR staff as needed (5%).
