Job summary

Maynard Nexsen seeks an HR Manager to lead human resources across the Carolinas, reporting to the Chief Talent & Human Resources Officer. This role partners with regional leadership to deliver high‑quality HR support for a geographically dispersed staff in Charlotte, NC.

You will drive employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning while ensuring policy compliance and collaboration with the broader HR team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; HR certification preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive HR experience with expertise in employee relations and investigations.
• Prior law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a geographically distributed HR team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR business partner for Carolinas offices and personnel.
• Conduct workplace investigations and manage employee relations issues with discretion.
• Partner with Office Managing Partners on personnel decisions, performance management, and workforce planning.
• Support and coach office staff on HR policies and people management practices.
• Lead local recruiting and onboarding initiatives to reduce cost-per-hire and improve time-to-productivity.
• Assist in annual performance evaluations and compensation review process.
• Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures.
• Recruit for nonexempt personnel and temporary employees.
• Design and execute employee engagement initiatives to strengthen morale and culture.
• Ensure consistency between Carolinas practices and Firm-wide HR standards.
