Job summary

Nacogdoches Independent School District is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the district’s HR department and implement comprehensive HR programs across staffing, compensation, benefits, and employee relations.

The role reports to the Deputy Superintendent and requires strong policy knowledge, budget management, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, the school board, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of selection, training, and supervision of personnel.
• Knowledge of wage and salary administration, benefits, and performance appraisal.
• Knowledge of education employment law and hearing procedures.
• Ability to implement policy and procedures.
• Ability to manage budget and personnel.
• Excellent public relations, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, the school board, or other organizations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the district's HR department operations and objectives.
• Develop staffing plans and recruitment/retention strategies for all employees.
• Oversee compensation programs including salary surveys and reclassifications.
• Monitor leave, health insurance, benefits, workers' compensation, and unemployment programs.
• Lead employee relations efforts and support investigations and policy issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and district policies.
