Job summary

Steel Service is seeking a Freight & Logistics Coordinator to manage transportation, warehouse distribution, and procurement activities, ensuring a seamless flow of goods and continuous improvements in inventory control.

The role requires strong data analysis, vendor management, and hands-on experience with TMS and ERP systems (AS400 or SAP). This in-person position operates in a fast-paced Flowood, Mississippi environment.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in supply chain operations with emphasis on freight logistics or warehouse management.
• Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, Tableau; experience with AS400 or SAP.
• Hands-on warehouse experience including materials handling, shipping logistics, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of transportation planning tools like TMS and related systems.
• Experience negotiating with vendors and carriers; procurement/sourcing exposure is a plus.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and drive process improvements.
• Forklift certification or safe forklift operation experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities; strong team collaboration in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Understand project shipping needs with Plant Superintendent and Project Managers.
• Schedule pickups, deliveries, and manage freight requirements with carriers.
• Confirm load dates, delivery addresses, contacts, and freight instructions.
• Coordinate freight shipments including international trade compliance and regulations.
• Manage warehouse distribution, inventory control, and timely order fulfillment.
• Use TMS and ERP systems (AS400 or SAP) to plan routes and monitor performance.
• Track loads from Steel Service to jobsite or delivery location.
• Communicate delays or issues to internal teams and adjust schedules.
