Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is seeking a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning. Reporting to the CFO, you will partner with executives and department heads to develop plans supporting the Museum’s mission and sustainability.

You will build financial models, conduct analyses for senior leadership and the Board, mentor FP&A staff, and serve as a trusted advisor on strategic initiatives and capital investments.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Economics or related field; or Bachelor’s degree with substantial directly related experience.
• 10+ years of progressive FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting experience including leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in mid-to-large nonprofit organizations with endowment accounting familiarity.
• Experience supporting executive leadership and governing boards.
• Experience developing complex financial models and long-range forecasts.
• Strong ability to lead, hire, train and coach FP&A staff, fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual operating and capital budgets and multiyear financial plans.
• Partner with department leaders for budget development and resource planning.
• Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts; provide insights for decisions.
• Prepare analyses for senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
• Supervise FP&A staff; mentor team and foster continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Development, and other departments on financial matters.
