Job summary

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) seeks a Controller to lead accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting. This role directs the accounting team and ensures timely financial statements while maintaining accounting policies and procedures.

The Controller oversees month-end close, payroll, and annual budget development, providing strategic financial insights and supporting executive leadership and board reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 5 years nonprofit accounting experience.
• Experience with Blackbaud NXT is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Oversees monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Manages budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Supervises payroll processing and related reporting.
• Ensures accuracy of general ledger and statutory reporting.
• Supports audit readiness and board reporting.
