UMOS, Inc. in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Controller to oversee the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across government-funded programs and administrative operations.

You will supervise general accounting, payroll, budgeting, cash management, grant accounting, and internal controls, serving as a financial partner to leadership. Qualifications

• BBA or BS in accounting.
• CPA preferred.
• At least 10 years in audit, finance, accounting, systems, and business.
• At least 5 years in a lead financial role with budgeting, payroll, and cash management.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems and advanced Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to build financial models.
• Knowledge of OMB Circulars for nonprofit organizations.
• Must have a vehicle, auto insurance, and be able to travel.
• Ability to communicate and foster teamwork with Administration and Program staff.
• Ability to handle confidential information for program compliance.
• Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting activities and maintain effective internal controls.
• Provide financial insight and modeling for short- and long-term growth.
• Ensure all financial statements comply with GAAP.
• Manage cash flow and treasury functions.
• Lead payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
• Supervise Accounting Department staff and promote a service mindset.
• Lead budgeting across departments and monitor variances.
• Manage budgeting systems for expenditures and investments.
• Develop and install accounting systems and audit operations.
• Continuously assess controls and financial records accuracy.
• Forecast revenues and expenditures for budgets.
• Maintain Financial and Purchasing Policies and procedures.
• Prepare year-end financial statements and filings.
• Provide financial information for Board presentations.
• Stay current with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
