Job summary

Chapman Heating & Air Conditioning in Indianapolis seeks an experienced Controller to oversee financial, accounting and payroll activities. You will partner with senior management to drive forecasting, budgeting and reporting, ensuring monthly close accuracy and balance sheet integrity. Service-industry experience is a plus.

You will lead staff, manage AP/AR, job costing and GL, and develop internal controls while collaborating with leadership and auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting preferred.
• Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a supervisory level role.
• Experience with P&Ls by department, balance sheet reconciliations, AP, AR, job costing, GL postings and control.
• Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
• Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
• Ability to lead accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Close monthly financials including reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Manage AP, AR and payroll.
• Monitor cash flow and AR aging; pursue overdue accounts.
• Liaise with CFO and Corporate Controller of parent company.
• Liaise with external auditors.
• Support budgeting and strategic planning initiatives.
• Prepare financial reporting packages and budgets.
• Develop and manage internal controls.
• Communicate financial metrics to senior management.
