Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Director, Contingent Workforce and Staffing to lead the internal variable staffing pool and manage 1,200+ licensed/non-licensed staff along with 21 admin staff across the system.

The role interfaces with campus leadership to project staffing needs, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure compliant, efficient scheduling and payroll processes. Strong HR experience and Workday familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Five+ years managing staffing or operations in healthcare or clinical staffing settings.
• HR experience including recruitment, employee relations, policy development, performance management,Payroll.
• Experience with VMS or staffing vendor management and contract negotiations.
• Strong presentation/analytical skills with PowerPoint and Excel.
• Experience leading projects, budgeting, and collaborating with senior leadership.
• Experience with Workday is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create/maintain a highly effective variable labor staffing model using best practices.
• Lead Central Staffing team and develop a cohesive, responsive staffing organization.
• Identify/implement processes and technology (VMS, scheduling, timekeeping).
• Build/manage a network of contract labor agencies and negotiate agency fees.
• Partner with campus leadership to provide staffing coverage for vacancies and growth.
• Develop recruitment strategies to attract supplemental/contracted talent and reduce contractor spend.
• Oversee onboarding, orientation, and compliance for central staffing staff.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to managers and staff.
