Job summary

Mecklenburg County seeks an experienced leader to oversee the Asset and Facility Management Department, directing operations for County-owned real estate, land acquisition, and construction across 4+ million square feet. The role manages a $50M operating budget and $100M capital program, guiding energy, security, and fleet initiatives to align with the County’s strategic goals.

The position requires 10+ years in facilities/operations management and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field;

Qualifications

• 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing county/municipal or large-scale operations in facilities, maintenance & management, capital program, fleet, and security services
• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field
• Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Responsibilities

• Direct the Asset and Facility Management Department operations and oversee 60+ full-time employees and large budgets
• Coordinate Real Estate Management, Design & Construction, Facilities Energy & Fleet Management, Security Services, and Business Management
• Oversee land acquisition, property management, design & construction of facilities, and maintenance of 4+ million square feet
• Lead energy management initiatives, environmental goals, and net-zero by 2035
• Prepare and present reports and budgets to executive leadership and Board of County Commissioners
