Job summary

Mecklenburg County is seeking an experienced executive to lead the Asset and Facility Management Department. The role directs planning, design, construction, operations, and security of County-owned buildings and real estate assets, including capital projects, energy management, and fleet operations.

You will manage a large team, multi-million annual budgets, and drive strategic initiatives aligned with the County’s mission while ensuring compliance and high-quality facilities services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, maintenance, capital programs, fleet, and security services.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, architecture, engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operations of the Asset and Facility Management Department with oversight of 60+ employees and multi-million budgets.
• Coordinate Real Estate, Design & Construction, Facilities Energy & Fleet Management, Security Services, and Business Management.
• Oversee land acquisition, design & construction projects, and major capital programs.
• Lead environmental initiatives to reach net-zero carbon energy by 2035 and manage safety and emergency preparedness.
• Prepare and present reports, budgets, and contracts to executive leadership and the Board.
