Job summary

RRMM Architects, an award-winning design firm based in Chesapeake, Virginia, seeks a Contracts Officer to oversee the development and issuance of contracts for design, construction, and project delivery.

You will ensure agreements are legally sound, compliant, and aligned with project goals while protecting the firm, with responsibilities spanning negotiation, review, and closeout. A Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of contract-management experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience reviewing or administering commercial contracts.
• Experience with professional services, construction, engineering, procurement, or legal contracts preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of AEC industry regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, revise, and coordinate contracts, amendments, change orders, NDAs, and related documents.
• Confirm contract language aligns with approved scopes of work, proposals, pricing, schedules, payment terms, and insurance requirements.
• Identify unclear language, conflicting terms, contractual risks, and items requiring review by leadership or legal counsel.
• Assist in negotiating contract terms, including payment, insurance, indemnification, warranties, liability, confidentiality, and termination.
• Track status of contract documents from initial preparation through execution, renewal, amendment, expiration, and closeout.
• Track deadlines, renewals, insurance requirements, payment milestones, notices, and other contractual obligations.
• Work with clients, consultants, leadership, project teams, accounting, and outside legal counsel to resolve contract-related matters.
• Willingness to support additional priorities and tasks as needed.
