Job summary

Istari is seeking a Deployment Strategist to own program outcomes end-to-end. You will embed with a small team of forward deployed engineers on flagship programs, shaping what matters, and ensuring demonstrations and tests prove the value.

You may carry the formal Program Manager designation on major federal programs and work with the government program office daily. You will have support from a Program Operations team, but you own the commitments and the program's next steps, balancing

Qualifications

• Ownership of an outcome with no formal authority over delivering teams.
• Experience in defense or government programs and working with DoD/NASA contracts preferred.
• Technical fluency across modeling/simulation, MBSE, digital threads, software, or agentic design.
• Strong product sense to distinguish platform vs. one-off requests.
• Ability to brief program executives and pair with engineers.
• Comfort with incomplete information and shifting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the outcome of programs end-to-end; define success, set milestones, and determine what to prove.
• Embed with government and industry customers to understand mission, constraints, and politics.
• Serve as named Program Manager on major federal programs and manage contract commitments.
• Set direction for a small forward-deployed engineering team; protect time and avoid unnecessary work.
• Shape growth through option years, follow-ons, and expansions arising from delivered outcomes.
• Transmit field learnings back into product and engineering to improve the platform for all customers.
• Travel to customer sites and attend test events, typically domestic.
