Job summary

Texas Education Agency in Austin, TX seeks a Department Operations Manager to coordinate executive support, communications, budget and SBOE coordination, and team culture. You will serve as primary contact across the department, supporting the Associate Commissioner and division directors while ensuring efficient operations.

The role requires at least three years in administrative functions, a four-year degree, strong written and verbal skills, budget experience, and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in operational or administrative functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing budgets (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Excel, Word, and Adobe documents.
• Ability to analyze and solve work-related problems effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive and operational support to departmental leadership through schedules, travel, meetings, events, and initiatives.
• Oversees internal and external communications and manages public information processes.
• Manages departmental budget, procurement, and administrative operations.
• Coordinates SBOE activities and rulemaking processes for compliance.
• Supports department culture, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives.
