Job summary

The Texas Education Agency is seeking a Department Operations Manager to ensure seamless coordination across department teams and with senior-level external stakeholders. You will provide administrative support to the Associate Commissioner and division directors, coordinate calendars, travel, budgets, and communications.

The role emphasizes customer-service, culture-building, onboarding, and efficient operations, with up to 10% travel and a hybrid work schedule requiring at least one in-person

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
• At least three (3) years of experience in operational or administrative functions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience managing budgets (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom or similar tools.
• Experience creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets; proficient with Word and Adobe documents.
• Ability to prioritize, manage time, and handle multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate executive and operational calendars, travel, meetings, events, and special initiatives.
• Facilitate communication and resources across program teams and leadership.
• Manage departmental budget, procurement, and administrative operations.
• Coordinate SBOE activities and administrative rulemaking processes.
• Support department culture, onboarding, and staff development.
