Job summary

Crane 1 Services is seeking a Defense Business Development Manager to expand relationships across DoW, primes, shipyards, and defense manufacturers. You will cultivate warm leads, map decision chains, and drive opportunities from first contact to award.

You will navigate KO/CO, COR, OTA/IDIQ concepts, and base/installation environments while representing Crane 1 at industry events and maintaining strategic defense community ties.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in defense business development, capture, or program/acquisition roles or an equivalent combination of military service and BD experience.
• Active, working network inside the DoW and Defense Industrial Base with accessible contacts.
• Fluent command of military and acquisition language; comfortable with terms and acronyms.

Responsibilities

• Create warm leads by leveraging national defense networks to identify facilities with lifting needs and budget.
• Map the decision chain across programs to identify key decision-makers.
• Qualify opportunities with scope, budget source, contract vehicle, competition, and fit.
• Position the right entity (GOGO/GOCO/contractor-owned) and route opportunities accordingly.
• Shape requirements early by engaging before RFPs and influencing sources sought, RFIs, and SOWs.
• Partner on capture with Technical Sales and Contract Manager on proposals and pricing strategies.
• Be the face of Crane 1 at industry events and maintain relationships with Navy installation stakeholders.
• Own the number by building pipeline and forecasting in CRM and achieving targets.
